Why We Support Foster Families
Every day you foster is a day that animal doesn't take up a kennel at the shelter. Your work:
Reduces shelter overcrowding and stress on staff
Every foster home opens up a kennel space for another animal in need
Provides individualized care animals need to thrive
One-on-one attention helps animals heal physically and emotionally
Increases adoption success through socialization
Well-socialized animals from foster homes adapt better to new families
Saves the county money on daily care costs
Foster care is more cost-effective than shelter housing
Makes space for more animals who need services
Each foster opens capacity for emergency intakes and rescues
The numbers speak for themselves:
Foster families save Bastrop County thousands of dollars annually while providing superior care for animals in need.

Puppy - Isabella
Thank you, this means the world to me and Isabella
The package arrived today and it’s perfect! Isabella immediately started spinning in circles for the wishbone Benebone. I just now broke open the Nylabone ring and that instantly became her new favorite. And the food is a welcome help to me.

Kittens Tonka, Teddy, and Crosby
You have no idea how much it helped
I took 3 very sick and fragile kittens from the Bastrop Animal Shelter to foster. It was a long 3 months of medicine and focused care. I needed help with the canned cat food which is what I wanted to help them thrive. It is expensive and they were eating 1-2 cans per day. I was so grateful for the box of wet food sent by SPSN.
